Remote Play Mastery

Stream your own console or PC across the globe.

Personal Cloud: Remote Play

Instead of renting a server from a company, you can turn your home PC or console into your own personal cloud server. Leave it on standby at home, and wake it up from your hotel room in another country.

01

The Home Network Foundation

Your home console/PC must be connected to your router via an Ethernet cable. Wi-Fi at the source introduces unbearable latency. Your home internet upload speed needs to be at least 15 Mbps consistently.

02

Port Forwarding (PC Streaming)

If you are using tools like Moonlight or Steam Link away from home, you may need to configure port forwarding on your router to allow the video stream to exit your home network securely.

03

The Client Connection

On the beach, connect your phone to the most stable network available. In the streaming app settings, manually cap the bitrate. A stable 10 Mbps stream looks better than a stuttering 30 Mbps stream.

Troubleshooting Travel Networks

Many hotels and airports use "Captive Portals" (the page where you agree to terms before getting internet). These can disrupt streaming apps. Always clear the portal in your mobile browser before launching your remote play app. If the hotel blocks gaming ports, a travel-friendly VPN might be required, though this will add latency.
